EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - TRICIA KING MIMS

Tricia began her journey with National Park Partners in 2016, when she became Executive Director of the Friends of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. In 2017, she took over the reins of Friends of Moccasin Bend and steered both organizations through the consolidation process as they became the new National Park Partners. Tricia came to NPP from a background steeped in conservation and non-profit management, serving most recently as the Development Director for Lula Lake Land Trust, where she oversaw 3+ years of fundraising efforts. Before Lula Lake, Tricia was the Southeast Region Project Manager for the Land Trust for Tennessee, where she led the protection of nearly 10,000 acres of farms and forests, primarily through negotiating private conservation easements with landowners. Her career in Chattanooga began in the City of Chattanooga's Parks department, and she served as a Grants Manager for Hamilton County's Development office. Tricia taught for many years as an adjunct faculty at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in both Environmental Science and Political Science. She holds a M.S. in International Affairs from Georgia Tech, and a B.S. in Applied Economics from the College of Agriculture at Cornell University. She enjoys exploring the outdoors, practicing yoga, and building community, one conversation at a time.  National Park Partners are excited for Tricia to lead us as we embark on a new chapter of the organization.

Our mission is to champion the conservation of the natural, historic, and cultural resources of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, including Moccasin Bend National Archeological District. We engage current and future generations in preserving and promoting the stories of these national treasures.

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is the first (and largest) National Military Park in the country. The six National Park units (Chickamauga Battlefield; Lookout Mountain Battlefield; Missionary Ridge; Moccasin Bend National Archeological District; Orchard Knob; and Signal Point) commemorate vivid stories of conflict, change, reconciliation and reunion. These are places for remembrance, reflection and discovering more about what it means to be an American. It is our goal to assist our National Park with rejuvenating  hallowed ground and irreplaceable cultural artifacts.

Our dedicated staff and tireless volunteers focus on strengthening the resources of our National Park, while preserving the historical and environmental elements so the public can learn from and enjoy these spaces. We engage in community outreach to ensure the park experiences are inclusive, and that everyone feels inspired to come appreciate the past, understand its relevance to the present, and help preserve it for years to come.
